 “It’s only a little club . . . but we do big things.” - Chummy Broomhall (1919-2017)

It's going to be another busy winter for our volunteers at Black Mountain of Maine as Black Mountain and the Chisholm Ski Club will be hosting a full slate of events. The first in a series of the always popular Snowmobile Hill  Climbs kicked off the season on December 14th.

The new year 2025 begins with the Nordic portion of the Bates Carnival on January 10th and 11th, and will feature ski teams from the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association.

Alpine events in January, include a Maine Alpine Racing Association U14 Giant Slalom, a Maine Junior Ski League race, and High School races. We will also host several Nordic events that month, including the annual Jr. Sassi 3km Classical and Sassi Memorial 5km Classical on January 25th. Another Nordic event that day is the Maine Nordic Team Qualifier.

February begins our championship season, as we host portions of the Mountain Valley Conference Championship and the Kennebec Valley Athletic Association Championship. The Maine Junior Ski League Championship will come to Rumford on February 11th and on February 17th and 18th we will be the host of the Maine Principals Association Classes A, B, and C Nordic State Championships. February will also be the month for the grueling Last Man Standing Uphill Race as well as the Eastern High School Maine Alpine Qualifier and the MARA U14 Qualifier for Giant Slalom.

Closing out the season in March we will have the Women's Day on the 8th and the Tom Kendall Ski Meister Race on March 9th.

Our final event of the season will be the Eastern High School Nordic Championships on March 14th, 15th and 16th.
