T
he future of the Chisholm Sk Club's youth program is bright, as evidenced by the season ending festivities at Black Mountain on Saturday, March 13th. 14 young skiers in two divisions completed 500m and 1k courses, displaying the skills that they developed this winter under the direction of Erin Haynes and her dedicated group of adult volunteers. The skiers in the Lollipop division were the first to race, with Dominick Desalle first across the finish line in the 500m course with a time of :2:28.. 2nd place went to shaylah Kilroy with a :3:47 finish. 3rd place went to Raegan Lyle, finishing in :4:06. Also finishing the race with great style were Dalton Viger and Emery Black.
In the Junior Mints division, Nora Haynes sprinted to the gold with a time of :8:03. Maddy Brown was the second older skier to stride to the finish, crossing the line in :8:55. Chloe Brown was third with a :8:58 finish. Sophia Souza had a great time of :9:33. Nora Brown was next across the line, finishing in :10:43. Right behind her was Isla Haynes at :10:46. Also skiing a great race were Addicu Bailey-Curry, Bretton Arsenault, Ainsley Black.
After the race, each skier was given a goodie bag as a reward for the effort and dedication. We are already excited about growing this program next winter.
Thanks for a great first day of XC Ski fun on January 10th..
