The Chisholm Ski Club and Black Mountain of Maine hosted the Maine Alpine Racing Association's U12 and U14 Giant Slalom Qualifier on Sunday, February 22nd. With a calm blue-bird sky day and a temperature of 32º at race time, the U12 Girls opened the competition. Natalie Blaisdell, skiing for Carrabasset Valley Academy, took first place with runs of 58.32 and 53.65 for a two-run total of 1:51.97. In second place was Eloise Wadsworth of CVA with times of 57.65 and 55.18 for a combined score of 1:52.83. In third place was Gould Academy Team's Sage Ippolito with runs of 58.54 and 55.71 and a two-run total of 1:54.25.

Also finishing in the top ten were Brooke Servidio, Elise Duda, Emerson Thornton, Audri Pelletier, Stella Hunter, Victoria Borowski, and Mackenzie Tetreault.

In the U14 Girls, CVA's Molly Holman took top honors with runs of 55.06 and 51.42 for a combined time of 1:46.48. Second place went to Gould's Madison Lambert with times of 55.70 and 51.92 for a two-run time of 1:47.62. Hayden Plourde of Valley Racing Team came in third with times of 55.62 and 52.48 and a combined score of 1:48.10 .

Rounding out the top ten were Isla Dakers, Hazel Redman, Nellie Wood, Addison Gray, Riley Corner, Niaya Gaudet, and Keira Livesay.

In the boys U12 race, Hal Trenholm, skiing for CVA, took gold with times of 55.93 and 53.13, giving him a combined score of 1:49.06. His teammate Winston Mehalic came in second with times of 56.49 and 54.87 and a two-run times of 1:51.36. Third place winner was Duncan Steinert of Pleasant Mountain Racing Team, registering times of 57.34 and 54.35 for a combined 1:51.69 time.

Other top-ten U12 skiers were Emmett Hark, Jacob Strait, Robinson Jones, James Redman, Breck Lowe, Jensen Larrabee, and Liam Masterman.

Only .81 seconds separated the top three skers in the boys U14 class. The top racer was Henry Sapak of CVA. Sapak had runs of 53.55 and 50.47, giving him a combined score of 1:44.02. Right behind him were teammates Finn Hilderbrand and Preston Ponitz. Hilderbrand finished in 54.35 and 50.31 for a 1:44.66 combined score. Ponitz had runs of 54.44 and 50.39 for a two-run total of 1:44.83.

Also received medals were Henry Brochu, Gunnar Goethert, Abram Plourde, Wyatt Colin, Max Puyanic, Owen Bouchard, and Peter Cote.
