February 20: Top High School Skiers in Maine competed Friday at Black Mountain of Maine, hoping to earn a berth on the 2026 Maine Alpine Team which will compete in the Eastern High School Championships in Franconia, New Hampshire from March 6-9.

Leading the men’s team will be a pair of Fryeburg Academy skiers, Tucker Barnaby and Merrik Iacozili. Barnaby had the fastest time in the 1^st run of the slalom race with a time of 40.49. Iacozili had the fastest time in the first run of the giant slalom race with a time of 49.53.

They will be joined on the team by Tristan Riley of Maranacook High School, Reed Michaud of Fort Kent High School, Cooper Dodge of York High School, Sam Good of Kennebunk High School, Dylan Cobb of Poland High School, Ian Christie of Falmouth High School, Sawyer Shanaman of Edward Little High School, and Gabe Landry of Falmouth High School.

The women's team will be led by Margo Hasson of Falmouth High School and Lily Boulanger of Mountain Valley High School. Hasson had the best times in each of the slalom runs, with her fastest time being a 42.61 in the first run. Boulanger had the fastest times in each of the giant slalom races, with her best time being a 49.96 in the first run. 

Also representing Maine will be Hazel Martin of Marshwood High School, Ellie Porter of Edward Little High School, Valentina Farioli of Fryeburg Academy, Phoebe Bell of Maranacook High School, Eleanor Browne of Skowhegan High School,  Ella Morse of Falmouth High School, Laney Caron of Fort Kent High School, and Maeve Long of Marshwood High School.
