28 Skiers over 50 years of age competed in the Ski Museum of Maine's Legends Giant Slalom race at Black Mountain of Maine. Skiers could take two runs, with the best of the two being their official time. In the women's F60 Class, Heid DeBlock of Team Prime Time took the gold with a best run of 48.69. Taking the silver was Leigh Breiderbach with a time of 52.52. The bronze went to Chisholm Ski Club's Terry Richard with a time of 1:09.22.
Gail Preble won the women's F70 class with best time of 48.66. Taking the silver was Robin Hodgkin with a tie of 58.67.
In the men's competiton, Hans-Peter Brahn of Prime Time 2 won the M60 class with a time of 40.94. Second place was won by Darryl Brown of the Chisholm Ski Club with a time of 41.94. Sugarloaf Ski Club's Peter Thompson took third with a time of 43.57.
In the M70 class, Michael Ham took top spot with a time of 37.74, while Michael Becker came in second with a time of 39.31. Chisholm's Tim Gallant took the final podium position with a time of 42.49.
Art Cunningham proved that you are never too old to compete, winning the M80 division with an amazing time of 42.14.

After Covid interrupted the Annual Legends Race in 2021, the competition for 50+ skiers is back!
What: Modified Giant Slalom Race
When: Friday, March 6, Race Start 1 pm, best of two runs
Where: Androscoggin Trail, Black Mountain, Rumford, Maine
Who: Race categories: Men and Women ages 50-59; 60-69; 70+
How Much: $50 registration in advance, $60 day of race
Registration includes lift pass day of race and after-race awards party

Teams of four with at least one man or one woman. Winner determined by place in racer's category not time. Register your team day of race at check-in on the main floor of the lodge. Get your team together from your ski area, ski club, fellow coaches, or group of friends.
