February 24: U12 and U14 Skiers competed in the Maine Alpine Racing Association's 2025 Giant Slalom Qualifier at Black Mountain of Maine. In the girls U12 division, Molly Holman, skiing for Carrabasset Valley Academy Ski Team, led the field with runs of 57.44 and 55.35 for a two-run total of 1:52.79. In second place was Addison Gray of CVA with times of 1:00.73 and 57.41 for a combined score of 1:58.14. Taking third place was CVA’s Elise Duda with times of 1:01.84 and 58.57, giving her a combined time of 2:00.41.
In the girls U14 division, Quinn Marston of CVA took gold with runs of 55.67 and 54.10 for a 1:49.77 combined time. Right behind her was Lillian Ward of Gould Academy Competition Program who had times of 57.73 and 54.83 for a total time of 1:52.56. Third place went to Skyar Dixon of Gould with runs of 57.32 and 55.78 and a combined time of 1:53.10.
In the boys U12 division, Halcyon Tranholm of CVA took top honors, completing the course in 58.90 and 57.17, giving him a 1:56.07 combined time. In second place was Gunnar Goethert of CVA with times of 59.22 and 57.27 for a 1:56.49 total time. Third place went to Brighton Barr with runs of 1:00.16 and 56.52 and a total score of 1:56.68.
And finally, in the boys U14 racing group, Robert Servidiao of CVA had the best times, skiing the course in 55.91 and 54.31 for a 1:50.22 combined time. .43 seconds behind him was Caleb Saucier of VRT who had runs of 56.74 and 53.91 for a 1:50,65 combined score. Taking the final podium position was CVA’s David Folger. Folger had times of 57.20 and 55.35, giving him a combined time of 1:52.55.
