February 11: Amelie Van Der Meer of the Quarry Road Ski Team captured gold in the 2025 Maine Junior Ski League 3K Freestyle Championships at Black Mountain. Van Der Meer outskated 34 skiers and crossed the finish line in 10:39.4. In second place was Hazel Badgett of Maine West with a time of 10:57.6. Also making the podium in third place was Quarry Road's Scotia Bell with a time of 11:01.0.

Charlotte Robinson of Farmington Area Ski Team took fourth place, crossing the line in 11:06.6. Her teammate Clara Ernst came in fifth with a time of 11:07.7. Finishing in sixth place was Maisy Colby of Maine West, with a time of 11:12.4. Seventh place went to Isla Klepach of Quarry Road, finishing with a time of 11:13.2.

In the boys race, Lucas Demarco of FAST took top honors in a field of 40 skiers, crossing the line in 9:23.8  Second place went to Abe Crooker of Maine West with a time of 9:29,7. In third place was Quarry Road's Paxton Coughlin, who finished the race in 9:34.7. 

The fourth place finisher was Will Ainsworth of Quarry Road with a time of 9:42.4. Right behind him was Elliot Plog of Day Mountain who finished in 9:46.4. Avery Marble took sixth place with a time of 9:55.4. Seventh place went to Matthew Phillips of Quarry Road, crossing the line in 9:56.6.

The MJSL Championship continues with the classical race on Saturday, February 15th, at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington.

Maine Junior Ski League Championship kicks off at Black Mountain

February 11: Molly Holman of Sugarloaf Area Ski Team skied to victory in the MJSL Giant Slalom Championship. Holman had runs of 38.36 and 39.52 for a two-run total of 1:17.88. In second place was Telstar's Madison Lambert, who had times of 38.81 and 40.00 for a 1:18.81 total time. Taking the final podium position was Holman's teammate Isla Dakers with times of 38.27 and 40.57 for a 1:18.84 total. 

Oxford Hills' Elise Knapp came in fourth with times of 39.29 and 40.26 for a total time of 1:19.55. Fifth place went to Cecile Cobb of BEAST who scored times of 38.96 and 40.92, giving her a combined time of 1:19.88. In sixth place was Olivia McGrail of Rangeley Area Ski Team with times of 39.86 and 41.45 for a 1:21.31 combined score. Rounding out the top seven was Camden's Elsa Schwaim. She had times of 41.58 and 42.76 for a two-run total of 1:24.34.

 In the boys race, Henry Sapak of Telstar captured the GS Championship with runs of 38.42 and 39.30 for a 1:17.72 total. Second place went to his teammate Silas Wills who had times of 38.78 and 39.70 for a 1:18.48 two-run total. In third place was Lucien Camire of BEAST with times of 38.82 and 41.01 for a combined time of 1:19.83.

Henry Brochu, and Independent, came in fourth place with runs of 39.75 and 40.79, giving him a combined time of 1:20.54. In fifth place was BEAST's Josh Varney. His times of 40.17 and 41.19 gave hime a total time of 1:21.36. Jacoby Parrott of Oxford Hills came in sixth with times of 41.02 and 41.76 for a 1:22.78 total. Auburn Middle School's Liam Folker took 7th with runs of 40.57 and 42.64 for a combined time of 1:23.21.

 Day 2 of the MJSL Championships will take place at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington on Saturday, February 15th.
