February 5, 2025: Beckett Cote, skiing for Messalonskee High School, captured the men's Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Mass Start Nordic Freestyle Championship. completing the 5k course at Black Mountain in 13:33.4. Finishing right on Cote's tail was Mt. Blue High School's Henri McCourt, who skater across the line in 13:34.6. McCourt's teammate Elias Bartlett grabbed the final podium position with a time of 14:01.8.

In fourth place was Grason Hoeft of Mt. Blue with a time of 14:37.2. Right behind him was Daire Woodruff of Brunswick HS with a finish of 14:41.1. Taking sixth place was Sam Cashman who has a time of 14:51.4. In seventh place was Mt. Blue skier Damian Wynn who had a time of 14:55.0.

In the women's race,  Mt. Blue's Nora McCourt  took the KVAC title with a time of 16:10.2. In second place was her teammate Maya Kellett with a time of 16:44.9. Taking third place was Leavitt's Haley Marston, who had a time of 18:37.

Coming in fourth place was Nora Condit of Edward Little with a time of 19:12.0. Ten seconds behind her was Mt. Blue's Cassity Hardy with a time of 19:22.6. In sixth place was Elja Partridge of Oxford Hills, who crossed the line at the 19:58.0 mark. Taking seventh place was Siena Scordino of Camden Hills. She had a time of 20:02.3.

The KVAC Championships continue on Saturday, February 8th at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington.

February 4: Edward Little High School's Ellie Porter captured the gold in the women's 2025 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Giant Slalom Championship at Black Mountain of Maine in Rumford. Porter had runs of 1:00.83 and 58.95 for a two-run total of 1:59.78 to capture the title. Taking the silver was Hailey Marquis of Camden Hills with times of 1:02.99 and 1:01.31 for a total time of 2:04.30. Winning the bronze was Sophie Simard of Leavitt HS, who had times of 1:01.80 and 1:03.52 for a 2:05.32 total.

 Mt. Blue's Melina McKendry finished with times of 1:03.26 and 1:02.24 and a 2:05.50 total to take fourth place. In fifth place was Oxford Hills' Alyson Cash with times of 1:04.49 and 1:02.76 and a two-run total of 2:07.25. Maggie McCarthy of Camden Hills took sixth place with times of 1:05.06 and 1:02.53, for a total of 2:07.59.

Rounding out the top 10 were Atalanta Roberts of Camden Hills (2:07.81), Caroline Bosse of Edward Little (2:08.15), Maddie Morton of Mt. Blue (2:08.88) and Bowman Hyland of Brunswick (2:09.12).

In the men's Giant Slalom Landon Marquis of Camden Hills took the gold with runs of 59.27 and 56.19 for a winning total of 1:55.46. The silver went to Kaden Salsbury of Skowhegan HS with times of 59.41 and 57.03 and the two-run total of 1:56.44. Taking the final podium position was Carter Hill of Edward Little HS. Hill had times of 58.83 and 57.82 and a total of 1:56.65.

Finishing in fourth place was Edward Little's Sawyer Shanaman with times of 1:00.84 and 57.71 for a 1:58.55 total. In fifth place was Finn Morton of Mt. Blue, who had runs of 1:00.08 and 59.48, giving him a total time of 1:59.56. Tanney Melanson of Edward Little took sixth place with times of 1:00.26 and 59.707 and a two-run total of 1:59.96.

Also finishing in the top ten were Leif Isenhour of Hampden Academy (2:00.32), Peyton Lanlois of Edward Little (2:01.75), Drake Tracy of Skowhegan (2:02.35) and Richard Dietreich of Oxford Hills (2:02.73).

The KVAC Alpine Championships continue on February 8th with the Slalom races at Titcomb Mountain.
