Dartmouth's John Steel Hagenbuch,winner of Friday's sprint races, made it a clean sweep with a gold medal in the men's 8.4k freestyle race at the 2025 Bates Carnival on Saturday, january 11. The jury decision was made early Saturday morning to use Black Mountain's 1.2k loop in reverse direction for 7 laps. Hagenbuch was first across the finish line with a time of 21:18.4.
Coming in second place was Hagenbuch's teammate Luke Allan, who finished with a time of 21:54.7. Taking the final podium spot was Middlebury's Logan Moore with a time of 22:10.1.
In the women's race, Ava Thurston of Dartmouth took the gold with a time of 25:29.5. The silver medal was won by University of New Hampshire's Clara Hegan, who had a time of 25:41.2. Taking the bronze was Middlebury's Shea Brams, who skated across the finish line in 25:41.6.
