February 7. 2024: Mt. Blue's Nora McCourt and Henri McCourt each won their races
in the opening event of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Association. The first day's event was a 5k Mass Start Freestyle event, with Nora first across the finish line in13:55.4 to capture the gold. Her teammates took the next two positions to sweep the podium. Second place went to Maya Kellett with a time of 14:10.6. Matalie McCarthy took third with a time of 14:30.5. Rounding out the top 6 were Maeve Woodruff of Brunswick with at time of 14:36.5, Kat Garcia of Edward Little (14:49.5) and Mt. Blue's Lucinda Carroll (14:54.0).
The men's mass start followed with McCourt being the favorite, and Henri didn't 
disappoint. McCourt skated across the line in 12:10.3 on his way to victory. Like the women, Mt. Blue swept the podium with teammates Elias Bartlett (12:18.7) and Damian Wynn (12:32.0) taken second and third. Also finishing in the top 6 were Jacob Dening of Leavitt (12:37.3), Wyeth Mackey of Brunswick (13:08/6), and his teammate Sam Cashman )13:16.1).
The KVAC Nordic Championships continue on Saturday at Titcomb Mtn with the 5K Classical pursuit.

Fees: Nordic: $12/athlete Make checks payable to Chisholm Ski Club. Bring checks/money to registration. Do not mail.
Bibs: Bibs are provided by Chisholm Ski Club. Teams will be charged $50 for any non returned bibs.
Passes: All non-participating athletes will be required to purchase a trail ticket from Black Mountain.
