Please note that any spectator on skis at any Nordic race must purchase a race spectator pass to be on course and the Nordic trails for the day.

The 2018 Maine U16 and Eastern High School Championship teams were selected based on qualifying races held at Black Mountain on March 3rd. In the High School race, Olivia Skillings, skiing for the Maine Coast Waldorf School in Freeport, passed Stephanie Nicols of Gould Academy in Bethel to capture 1st place in the Freestyle pursuit. Nicols, who had won the 5k Classical race earlier in the day, finished second. Coming in third was Lily Horne of Freeport High School. 

In the High School Boys competition, Ben Alford, representing the Bethel Outing Club won the gold in the pursuit. Alford, who had also won the classical race, led wire to wire. He was followed by Max Bartley, who was skiing as a member of the Outdoor Sport Institute of Caribou. Finishing in third was Luke Bartol of Maranacook High School.

KVAC Logo 2018 72Audrey Heriz-Smith of Camden Hills High School won the KVAC women's giant slalom race at Black Mountain with a two-run combined time of 1:42.62. HERIZ SMITH AUDREYJenna Hanrahan of Mt. Blue HS took second (1:46.99) with Hampen Academy's Brea Brown came in third. Rounding out the top 6 were Janiki Pakulski of Maranacook, Jordan Cummings of Edward Little and Maranacook's Katie Ide.

2015 Skiing Championships

maine-jr-ski-league-logo-180The Farmington Area Boys and Girls Ski Teams each claimed 2015 Maine Junior Ski League Overall Championships during the Day 2 Competition at Black Mountain Ski Resort in Rumford on Saturday, February 14th. It was the boys nordic team, led by 3K Classical Gold Medalist Dominic Giampietro, who dominated the field to lead the Famington boys to victory.

Chisholm Ski Club and Black Mountain Ski Resort are hosting the EHSC and U16 Nordic Qualifier Races on Saturday, February 28th. The purpose of the race is to select the teams to represent Maine at the 2015 NENSA U16 and Eastern High School Championships. Any athlete may enter the race, as long as they either attend a Maine High School or are Maine residents. The format will be a 5km Classic race in the morning, followed by a 5km FS Pursuit in the afternoon. The final pursuit results will be used to name the team.The top 21 U16 Boys and 21 U16 Girls will be named to the Maine U16 Nordic Team.

BECAUSE OF EXTREMELY HIGH WINDS AND FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR ATHLETES, THE JR SASSI 3K AND THE SASSI MEMORIAL 5K CLASSICAL THAT WERE SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 31ST WERE CANCELED. EFFORTS TO RESCHEDULE WILL BE MADE. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR MORE INFORMATION AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.

The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference and the Mountain Valley Conference are once again teaming for their league skiing championships. Day One of the Championships will be at Black Mountain Ski Resort while Titcomb Mountain in Farmington will host Day Two.
