Black Mountain, Sugarloaf, and Titcomb Mountain to Host 2014 Championships
The Mountain Valley Conference and Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference combined to hold their individual league skiing championships. One change this year was that the Nordic and Alpine races were each be held on separate weeks, similar to what the Maine Principals Association adopted for this year's state championships.
Competition was originally slated to begin at Black Mountain Ski Resort in Rumford on Wednesday, February 5th, but weather has forced a postponement.
Those Day 1 Nordic races were moved to Sugarloaf Mountain for Friday, February 7th. The women started the 5K Freestyle competition at 1:00 pm. The men's race began at 2:00.
The Nordic Classical took place at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington on Saturday, February 8th. The girls again went out first, beginning at 10:00 am.
The Championships continued on Wednesday, February 12th with Giant Slalom Alpine races at Black Mountain. The races started at 10:00 am with the girls going first. The Championships moved to Titcomb Mountain for the final day of competition on Saturday. Girls again began the day with Slalom races starting at 9:30 am.
