Orono High School's sophomore sensation Ruth White completed the 5k Classical course at Black Mountain in 21:10.6 to win the Maine High School Class C Championship February 23rd. The diminuative White earlier in season captured the Mountain Valley Conference. Second place went to Mt. Abram High School's Emily Kidd. Kidd finished with a time of 22:04.7. In third place was Fort Kent HS's Rowan Tanguay, who crossed the line in 22:43.6.

Coming in 4th place was Sarah Morgan of Waynflete, who finished in 23:00.8. 5th place was won by Annabelle Reardon of Fort Kent with a time of 23:26.2. Julia Wener of Waynflete came in 6th with a time of 23:33.3.

White will lead a group of 40 skiers tomorrow in the freestyle pursuit beginning at 10:00 am.
