Rangeley's Bristol Quimby took top honors in the women's high school giant slalom race at Black Mountain on January 28th. Quimby's runs of 35.96 and 37.39 gave her a two-run total of 1:13.35, enough to gain the victory. Rosie St. Cyr, skiing for Freeport/Brunswick, came in second with times of 36.57 and 37.47 for a total time of 1:14.04. Third place went to Breezy Quimby of Rangeley with runs of 37.05 and 37.67 (1:14.72). Rounding out the top six were Sadie McDonough of Mt. Blue (1:14.84), Olivia Rand of John Bapst (1:14.96) and Sophie Simard of Leavitt (1:15.07).
In the men's race, Josh Smith of Mt. Blue won with times of 35.26 and 34.43 for a combined score of 1:09.69. Camden Hills' Jett Lindelof came in second with runs of 35.30 and 35.16 for a 1:10.46 combined time. Third place went to Smith's teammate Sam Goodspeed who had times of 35.22 and 35.55 (1:10.77). Also in the top six were Ethan Levesque of Edward Little (1:11.86), Marc Huguet of Camden Hills (1:12.40), and Oxford Hills' Nick Bancroft (1:12.41).
