In the first Nordic race of the season, Nora McCourt of the Farmington Area Ski Team was the fastest skier, completing the Chisholm Challenge 3k Classical race in 12:49.9. Second place went to McCourt’s teammate Natalie McCarthy, who crossed the finish line in 13:32.7. The final podium spot was won by Katharine Garcia of Auburn Middle School with a time of 13:59.5.
In the boys race, Ellis Slover of AMS garnished the gold medal, finishing in 10:54.8, nearly 2 minutes ahead of the next competitor. The silver medal went to Farmington Area’s Henri McCourt, who strided the course in 12:40.6. Ben Hilton of FAST grabbed the bronze with a time of 13:42.6.
This race featured a new configuration for the John Roderick Trail System at Black Mountain. The young skiers handled the extended downhill beautifully, with only a couple of spills. This race served as a good tune up for Saturday’s Junior Sassi 3k Classical.
