2012 TDBank J2 Championships

The Chisholm Ski Club will host the TD Bank J2 Championships on March 9,10, and 11 2012 at Black Mountain of Maine, Rumford, Maine.

Event Info: TD Bank J2 Championships will take place at Black Mountain of Maine hosted by the Chisholm Ski Club.
Friday: Individual 5K seeded wave start.
Saturday AM: Individual 5K, seeded wave start:
Sat PM:Sprint seeded wave start. Awards Dinner and Banquet hosted at the Mountain base lodge.
Sunday: Mixed Gender, Mixed Medley Relay. Qualification through states. 20 girls and 20 boys per team. Order will be: Boys Classic, Girls Classic, Boys Free Technique, Girls Free Technique
Guest teams will also be competing.
Registration: Registration and qualification criteria available through your state's J2 team leader. Leader contact information will be posted on NENSA website. When teams register skiers, make sure that you list faster skiers first so that we can seed skiers properly. This will make for a fairer and more enjoyable competition for all.Skiers will be seeded by their state coaches ranked fastest to slowest.

It is a pleasure to welcome you once again to Black Mountain of Maine and the Chisholm Ski Club. Please feel free to ask anyone in a red or blue jacket for assistance if needed. Entry fee for this years Championship will be $105.00 per athlete. Each team will be compt 8 coaches passes and credentials for the event. Make check payable to: Chisholm Ski Club and mail to P.O. Parking: Parking is on a first come, first serve basis with the upper tier of the parking lot reserved for alpine skiers. Popular team parking is available to the right side of the parking lot as you enter the gate. Large busses are asked to park in the lower parking tier. Please ask attendant for assistance.

Waxing: Team waxing will be available this year in our newly renovated waxing facility located in the Old Base Lodge. Fee for the wax cubicles is $150.00 for each cubicle plus a refundable $50.00 key and clean up security deposit. Each cubicle is powered, ventilated and lockable allowing you to set up and secure all your equipment and skis. This area will be supervised during the event. Cleanup equipment will be available to help keep this area clean. Sizes range from 9 x 12 to 10 x 12 and we encourage you to rent more than one based on your team size and coaching staff. Please note that no waxing will be allowed outside the new base lodge under the covered walkway and to the right side of the building. This area is needed for First Aid access.

Base Lodge: All of your needs are available in the new base lodge with bathroom facilities located on both the lower and first floor levels. The snack bar will be open by 8 am each race day for your convenience and is moderately priced. Other food and drink offerings will be available in the Last Run Lounge located on the upper level. The Last Run Lounge will be closed each race day in the morning to allow seating for alpine skiers and season pass holders.

Team tailgating is encouraged in the parking lot but not in the base lodge. Team food tables will not be allowed due to minimal space and respect to recreational skiers.

Registration: Race registration is located at the lower east end of the parking lot and up the stairs from Muriel’s Kitchen. This area is diagonally across from the new base lodge and is also the entrance to the Stadium area. Any information you need will be available in this building. Please help us make registration go smoothly by adhering to the schedule and reporting any scratches, substitutions, name changes or spelling as soon as possible.

Results: Results will be posted shortly after each event in the stadium and on the wax building as well as inside the base lodge. Real time results will also be available unofficially on the screen inside the base lodge. Hard copies will be available in Race Headquarters when they become official. The race will be streamed on our web site and final results posted at this link.

SMS System: We encourage you and your coaches to share cell numbers with us so that we can send you up to date messages during the event should the need arise. Things like weather changes, start time changes, coaches meeting and the like will be sent out to the list as needed. Please e mail me your list as soon as they are available. Best to have only the team leader forward this so I can keep track of the teams.

Mass Start Seeding: "The Mass Start Classic Race is seeded by NENSA points for the top 15 ranked boys and top 15 ranked girls on NENSA points and is seeded in arrowhead. The remaining athletes are lane seeded by Team Leaders"

Flower Ceremony and Awards: Each day’s event awards will be approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the competition. The medal and flower ceremony will be held at a TBD location and will be announced both inside and outside of the lodge.

Banquet: TD Bank J2 Championship banquet will be held at the Mountain Valley High School Gym, 799 Hancock St in Rumford, on Saturday night March 10th at 6:30 pm. Click here to get directions (GPS Coordinates for School 44°33'53.23" N 70°33'34.24" W).
Athletes and coaches must have their tickets for admittance. Eight complimentary tickets shall be provided for team leaders and coaches. Additional tickets can be purchased for parents and other guest at Race Headquarters when you arrive at Black Mountain. We encourage you to e mail us ahead to reserve tickets as they are on a first come first serve basis. Banquet fee is $15 which includes salad, main course, desert, juice and coffee. Event awards will follow immediately.
